Oncology nurses monitor their patients conditions at all times and create treatment plans to relieve their symptoms as much as possible. They administer medicine and cancer treatments such as chemotherapy. It is their responsibility to maintain an excellent working knowledge of cancer and to pass this information along to patients and their families. Oncology nurses regularly consult and collaborate with other health care professionals such as cancer specialists and physicians to provide the best possible level of service to their patients.
Job Type: Description:- The basic function of this position is to assess, plan, implement and evaluate all nursing activities for a specific area of a nursing unit in conjunction with the head nurse or charge nurse of the unit. Interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with patients, family members,significant others, client facility staff, volunteers, physician office staff, Nurses 24/7 administrative staff, and other agency nursing personnel, supervisors, payroll and staffing personnel. Client facilities of varied sizes and available equipment. Duties may vary depending upon client facility policy. Nurses may be exposed to communicable diseases and may be assigned to patients in isolation. Nurses may be exposed to infectious waste including radioactive waste material from nuclear medicine. Job Type: Description:- Operating Room nurses provide care to patients before, during and after surgical procedures. An Operating Room nurse is a member of a medical team of professionals working together to complete a successful surgical operation. The operating room nurse conducts a pre-surgery interview with the patient so they are made aware of any potential problems and to help construct a plan for surgery. Operating room nurses are the main line of communication between the patient and their family and the operating physician. The operating room nurse educates and ensures patients and families about the procedure they are about to undergo. During the surgery itself the operating room nurse will assist the operating physician in the procedure, monitor the patients vital signs and maintain a sterile environment. After the surgery is complete the operating room nurse will continue to assist the patient with their recovery by administering medicine for pain relief, cleaning and dressing wounds, monitoring vital signs and the healing process. They will teach the patient how to care for themselves after they leave the hospital.

The nurse is responsible for the intake of the patient including history, obtaining and reviewing lab work and preparing patient for the procedure. They provide the patient with education, before and aftercare instructions and emotional support. The endoscopy nurse must assess, evaluate, and intervene when necessary to ensure patient safety during diagnostic tests or procedures. They are responsible for checking and maintaining equipment, ensuring sterile technique, monitoring and documenting the procedure from admission to safe discharge. At least on year recent experience in Endoscopy suite and current BCLS Certification required.

Average patient ratio is 1:5-6 normally, but can be up to 8 if census peaks.
Patient population is mostly substance abuse patients that are relatively stable, however, should a patient become more acute, theyll be transferred to the ER.
Nurses will be expected to be able to draw blood, perform IV cannulation, hang IV fluids, etc, so they will need strong medsurg/tele experience. Must understand CIWA/COWA tools and procedures.
