They are specialty trained highly skilled nurses that work with doctors and technicians to perform cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties and valvuloplasties. Additionally, cath lab nurses assist doctors when implanting pacemakers and cardioverter-defibrillators. They are expected to work closely with patients and families providing preop, intraop and postop education and care.

An Operating Room nurse is a member of a medical team of professionals working together to complete a successful surgical operation. The operating room nurse conducts a pre-surgery interview with the patient so they are made aware of any potential problems and to help construct a plan for surgery. Operating room nurses are the main line of communication between the patient and their family and the operating physician. They are responsible for monitoring g the mother and baby through the birthing process and informing the doctor of progress and any complications.
