Patients on the Step Down unit are acutely ill and require close monitoring however their condition is not critical enough to require admission to the ICU, conversely patients leaving the ICU may need to go to step down for closer monitoring then the med surg/tele floors can provide. Step Down nurses have extensive knowledge of disease and pathology, they are proficient in cardiac monitoring and utilize critical thinking when assessing, monitoring and implementing care plans. Step down nurses prepare the patient for discharge through encouraging therapies, educating and providing emotional support. They report any changes in condition to the physician and work well with an interdisciplinary team. Step down nurses are able to recognize and act quickly in an emergency.One year current experience in a Step Down, Intermediate Care Unit or ICU required. BCLS and ACLS certification required.

Job Type: Description:- Long Term Care LPNs are LPNs who take on a supervisory role in long term healthcare settings such as Nursing Homes, Rehab centers and assisted living facilities. The LTC nurse needs to be organized and work well with axially staff and facilities manager to provide safe quality care at all times. The RNs role is to oversee patient care, monitor seriously ill residents as necessary, direct and supervise CNAs and LPNs, consult with resident physician on medications, treatments and care plans for patients. Must be educated in laws and regulations of long term health and possess knowledge of public health issues. One year or more recent long term health experience and BCLS experience required.
