This involves assessing, planning, administering, evaluating the nursing care of assigned patients, administering all treatments and medications, and maintaining complete and accurate records of nursing assessments and nursing care. The Emergency Room nurse must possess expertise in recognizing other complications in the intensive care patient based on the patients disease process and work closely with physicians and other team members in implementing patient care. The functions performed require judgment based upon the applications of scientific and nursing knowledge and are guided by the established philosophy and policies of the organization and the unit. They report any changes in condition to the physician and work well with an interdisciplinary team. Step down nurses are able to recognize and act quickly in an emergency.One year current experience in a Step Down, Intermediate Care Unit or ICU required. BCLS and ACLS certification required.
