The nurse is responsible for the intake of the patient including history, obtaining and reviewing lab work and preparing patient for the procedure. They provide the patient with education, before and aftercare instructions and emotional support. The endoscopy nurse must assess, evaluate, and intervene when necessary to ensure patient safety during diagnostic tests or procedures. Job Type: Description:- LTAC RN is a nurse that works with acutely ill patients in a long term setting. These patients are considered stable but acutely ill, usually coming from a step down or ICU inpatient setting. An LTAC nurse possesses critical thinking skills and has extensive knowledge of anatomy and physiology to treat a variety of traumatic and or disease processes. LTAC nurses work closely with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate and oversee wound care, ventilator care, rehab, occupational therapy, physical therapy and nutrition. They assess, evaluation, intervene when appropriate and remain in constant communication with the resident MD to discuss changes and progress in patient’s conditions. LTAC nurse dispense medications, they are responsible for chest tubes, ventilators, wound vacs, critical care IV Drips, enteral nutrition, feeding tubes, central lines etc. They also supervise care given by the nurses’ aides and provide emotional support of the patient and family. LTAC nurse is equivalent to a step down nurse in a hospital.
