They are specialty trained highly skilled nurses that work with doctors and technicians to perform cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties and valvuloplasties. Additionally, cath lab nurses assist doctors when implanting pacemakers and cardioverter-defibrillators. They are expected to work closely with patients and families providing preop, intraop and postop education and care.
